Camcorder Reviews
JVC Picsio GC-FM1 (purple)

The JVC GC-FM1's impractical design and poor software hobble an otherwise competent mini camcorder competitor.

JVC Everio GZ-MS130 (blue)

The JVC Everio GZ-MS130 is a nice little flash-memory-based standard-def camcorder.

Flip Video MinoHD (second generation, silver)

Still one of the nicest models available, the second-generation Flip MinoHD offers a slightly improved design, double the memory, and an HDMI output for the same price that the original MinoHD used to cost.

Samsung HMX-R10 (black)

The Samsung HMX-R10's plentiful shooting features and fine-quality HD video for its class--at least in good lighting--make it a very good compact HD camcorder. However, its design definitely isn't for everyone.

Sony HDR-CX520V

The geotagging capability remains mostly a novelty, but the top-notch video quality of the Sony Handycam HDR-CX500V and HDR-CX520V make them worthy options. Because internal memory is overpriced, the HDR-XR500V is the better deal of the two, though you may want to opt for a 2010 model that supports SD cards rather than Sony's Memory Stick.

Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG10 (pink)

Sanyo's dual-camera Xacti VPC-CG10 has the design and features to easily shoot both HD-quality movies and 10-megapixel photos, but slow performance and mediocre photos keep it from being a solid do-it-all device.

Sony DCR-DVD650

The Sony Handycam DCR-DVD650 offers an all-in-one, on-the-go way to capture standard-def video and burn it to a DVD, but hard-disk-drive and flash-memory models are otherwise a better option.

Creative Labs Vado HD 3rd Gen (120 minutes, red)

Though the Creative Vado HD 3rd Gen doesn't do quite enough to distinguish itself from the competition, it does offer some nice improvements over earlier Vado HD models that keep it relevant in the pocket camcorder space.

Sony Bloggie MHS-CM5 (purple)

The Bloggie CM5 isn't as compact as competing models from Flip Video and Kodak, but it delivers an above-average feature set and video for the money.

Adobe Premiere Elements 4 Review
Quick rundown:
Pros: Simple and easy to use, but with the flexibility to create more complex videos.
Cons: No AVCHD support, yet.
Adobe makes it easy to create quick, appealing home movies with the latest installment of Adobe Premiere Elements. A slick interface, better integration with Photoshop Elements, and better support for Flash-based sites like YouTube make Adobe Premiere Elements 4 a great choice for video projects, but the current lack of AVCHD support makes it a product I cannot f...
