Buy a cheap camera - you get what you pay for! December 12, 2008 F. Quinones (Baltimore, MD) I recently purchased the ATC 3K so that my buddies and I could capture footage from our riding excursions. I, myself, am into all sorts of riding - from dirt to street - and decided not to go with any other competitor camera, mainly due to price, package and peoples' reviews. At this point, I regret my decision!
My advice is to dish out a few more bills and get a hands-free camera that will give you quality video. The ATC 3K video was grainy and the sound was horrible. I compared my footage to a buddy of mine's camera footage and his was way better (he has the vholdr camera). Not to mention that the ATC weighs in super heavy at 1 pound! Lastly, I own a Mac so that put me at a huge disadvantage because I was unable to use the software... If I spend good money on a camera like this, I want software that will WORK!
Bottom Line: don't be stingy - buy a different hands free camcorder!
Not Worth the $$$ Poor Quality No Tech Support December 11, 2008 Wrascal Thomas (CT, USA) I bought this believing that it would provide at least a passable quality. However, picture is too slow to self-adjust from lighted area to shade. Driving down a road on a sunny day, I would see clear picture until I pass under a shaded area, where the picture would immediately become too dark to view. I contacted Oregon Scientific for support, explained the issue, and, after 5 days, they responded by asking me where I bought the item. Not sure what that has to do with my question, but I sent them a copy of my receipt (only had it for less than 30 days) and haven't heard anything since. That was last month. I am now looking for a better quality camera, but I will never buy another Oregon Scientific product again...it's not worth the effort.
Very Pleased November 28, 2008 D. Hartt (Fort Worth) I like to take video of all my trips and give them to family or to the people that go with us. I put this on my Harley and took video of my last motorcycle trip. It worked out great. There is a $500 dollar version that someone makes that has more bells and whistles (i.e. like playing back what you've done) but for the money this was an excellent buy and meets my needs perfectly.
Very durable, easy controls, poor sound October 27, 2008 C. Sinks 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I mounted this camera both on my helmet and my mountain bike and took it on some singletrack adventures. I had several wipeouts where I landed on the camera or the camera directly hit the ground, and it continues to work great! Since it is waterproof as well as shock-resistant, there are no microphone openings, which means that the sound quality is very poor. I just disabled the audio.
Overall - I was very impressed with the durability, ease of use, and all of the mounting hardware that it comes with.
Action Cam September 19, 2008 Livio Patera 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm very pleased with the accessories which come with this cam. the quality of the images are on a good base, sound is not really fine, but it's a action cam, not a digital mic. overall i'm happy with it, reasonable price for this item.
